Greetings, sports fans, and welcome to another edition of Postings from The Pit, or as I often say, “My writer’s block, and How to overcome it.”
Soon, the holidays will be over, and things will return to their usual insanity. Work is proceeding as normal, though with a few less things that I did like. Like being able to listen to the radio, which seems to be an issue for me but not for one of the others, which is due to him getting more done quicker…maybe it was a distraction, and I just didn’t realize it.
The thing that chews me up inside is, I have to submit to the wishes of another and the fact that he’s right is what makes it the worst. The Truth, ladies and germs, is that I am terribly, terribly distracted by….mmm, shiny thing.
Moving right along, let’s commence with the news:
Brush Fires Suck
From the lovely people at Yahoo News by way of AP comes another in a series of disasters hitting Texas. My shouts go out to all those folks affected by this. I can remember riding the Grey Dog through Texas…..all the bloody way. I had never, before Iowa that is, seen so much….Flat. It unnerved me. And the August heat didn’t help, which I seemed to be perpetually in until around El Paso. On the way, I saw huge patches of blackened soil which I knew to be places where the fires that spring and summer had done their work. The fact that this is affecting East TX is somewhat interesting….especially with the Prez lounging in his Ranch in Crawford. My tin-foil hat wearing Evil Twin thinks it’s weather manipulation of some sort….or something.
Paragons of Stupidity
Again, from the fine cats and kitties at Yahoo and AP comes a shining example of the Yoots of Today being not quite with it on some things. On the one hand, I give them points for using technology to further poke holes in the War on Drugs program that doesn’t work (like some programs tend to do). However, I take away points for just sheer stupidity. Never leave the evidence where it can be found, kids. Lucky for them, juvenile records usually get expunged.
So today I give Errin Parsons and Zachary Brady the Junior Edition Paragon of Stupidity Award.
And finally:
Your Moment of Bush
This time, from the fine cats and kitties at Reuters by way of Yahoo comes a puzzling story.
So let me get this straight: He doesn’t read the paper, but he reads books. Well, to give the Horned One his due, at least he’s reading. Of course, I say this like one says about a 5 year old who can’t read so well. Methinks this is a calculated move by Karl “The E stands for Eichmann” Rove. Maybe Imperial Grunts will give him some perspective, though I haven’t read the book either to say what kind of slant there is.
And with that, another edition of PftP comes to an end. Be well, do good works, and keep your death ray handy.
